Sunday Worship

This Sunday. . .

What do the Beatitudes have to say about our life in fractious, 21st-century America? Pastor Hans will be unpacking two of Matthew’s beatitudes specifically: blessed are the meek and blessed are the peacemakers.

Trinity Together Sunday Forum
Praying with our Whole Selves

Join Pastor Hans for a detailed walk through the Lord’s Prayer. He has designed this teaching module to be accessible and engaging for all ages, while still getting into his characteristic depth. Come with your family to learn more about our faith’s most important prayer.

February 1 – Our Father in Heaven

This winter we begin a five-week intergenerational series on the Lord’s Prayer: “Praying with Our Whole Selves.” In our first session, we’ll explore what it means to call God “Our Father” and to pray as part of a worldwide family of faith. Through a short teaching, table conversation, and a simple craft, we’ll reflecton the people who first taught us to pray and how God gathers us into one family at Trinity. All ages are welcome—no experience needed!

Lent at Trinity

Join us as we begin Lent on Ash Wednesday (February 18) with Holy Communion and the Imposition of Ashes offered at 12:00 and 7:30 PM. Throughout the season, we'll continue to be formed with Wednesday Lenten Worship in the chapel at 12:05 PM--except on February 25th, when Dr. Wentz will offer a Lenten midday recital instead.

Throughout the season, you are invited to share in a time of learning and community with Dcs. Deborah in a book study on A King Washes Feet: How to Love and Forgive Your Friends and Enemies—An Illustrated Bible Study by Jessica Claire Bond.

Holy Week begins on Palm Sunday (March 29), when the world premiere of Dr. Wentz' St. Mark Passion will take place during 10:00 AM worship. On Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, we'll gather for a brief midday service in the chapel at 12:05 PM.

On Maundy Thursday, we'll gather for a poignant Choral Eucharist at 7:30 PM with a sermon by Dcs. Deborah. And on Good Friday, we'll gather at noon to mark the most solemn day in our faith, with a sermon from Pr. Hans.

Lenten Book Discussion and Prayer: A King Washes Feet

Tuesdays: 7:00-8:30 PM & Thursdays: 2:00-3:30 PM

A King Washes Feet: How to Love and Forgive Your Friends and Enemies—An Illustrated Bible Study  by Jessica Claire Bond

We live in a world obsessed with chasing titles, power, and followers like they’ll save us. But the true King, the One who spoke galaxies into being, didn’t come with a scepter in His hand. He came with a towel. And He didn’t sit on a throne, He knelt low.

Each week you are invited to gather for honest discussion, intentional reflection, and contemplative worship in the Chapel.  You are welcome to join for 1 session or for all, afternoon or evening.

If you would like to join the discussion and/or order a book, please sign up in the Narthex by February 8 or contact Dcs. Deborah.

(The book will be released on February 10 and is available on a sliding scale from $0 - $25 (the true cost of the book). Please make payments to Trinity earmarked: Lent Book Study)

From the Author - Trigger Warning:

This book is about real life. We need foot washing because we need Jesus to burst into the parts of our stories that hurt the most, and to wash us after the places we’ve walked. This book mentions subjects such as domestic violence, adultery, sexual abuse, suicide, pornography, trauma, earthquakes, death, abortion, religious persecution, and human trafficking. If these are sensitive topics for you, please be aware. But I pray that the Jesus you meet through these pages— and the way these topics are approached— brings healing. Perhaps this book was written exactly for you.
