Last Sunday. . .
Pastor Hans preached on the moment Peter — the man just handed the keys to the kingdom — puts an arm around Jesus and tries to talk him out of the cross. What follows is honest and unexpectedly freeing: Peter never graduates into holiness, Jesus never takes the name back, and the verdict spoken over each of us was announced at the font long before we had done a single thing worth paying back. This Sunday. . .
This Sunday will feature Trinity member Lisa Speece on flute and harp. Lisa is an active musician in Trinity’s music life both as a flutist and as a soprano, and we are excited for her to share her talents on the harp as well! We also thank Sandi Sittler for accompanying Lisa and being our supply keyboardist while Dr. Wentz is on vacation.
Trinity Transporters
“Let all that you do be done in love” — 1 Corinthians 16:14
As we walk with and pray for our members in their lives, we are starting a new ministry providing the gift of transportation. Trinity Transporters is a new subcommittee created under our Trinity Care and Concern Committee. The purpose of this ministry is to provide transportation for those who are in need if they have a doctor appointment, outpatient surgery, or other appointments and they do not have a way to reach their destination or return home.
We are looking for those who might be willing to give an hour or two to transport those in need. If so, please contact Deaconess Deborah, Donna Osborne, Beth Welz — or call the church office at 610-374-4861.
This ministry begins this month, and if you do require assistance, please contact one of the three listed above, and we will get you set up with a driver. Be assured, this will be very confidential.

Sunday, September 13th
We will join with our Common Ground Recovery Community ministry, where God’s grace embraces our brokenness.
At 10:00 a.m. we will experience a Common Ground worship service led by Pastors Tom Scornavacchi and Molly Haggerty. The congregation will be seated around tables, as Common Ground gathers on Mondays. After worship we will share food and fellowship, reflecting on the worship and taking part in service projects: creating caring cards and tokens for those who need a message of hope and love. The Common Ground Recovery Community will also make these projects on Monday at the Drop-In Center.
A Special Offering for Refresh Berks
Throughout September, Trinity is receiving a special offering for our neighbors who use the Refresh Berks shower trailer. The items most needed are women’s sports bras in small and medium, men’s dark boxer briefs in medium, and dark socks.
Covenant Cup Golf Event
Sunday, September 27th
Join us Sunday, September 27th for the second annual Covenant Cup, a friendly golf outing with Christ Episcopal Church at Heidelberg Country Club, benefiting Habitat for Humanity’s mission to build affordable housing in Reading and Berks County.
The 1:00 p.m. shotgun start includes longest drive and closest-to-the-pin contests, capped off by a celebratory banquet buffet at 5:30 p.m. Registration is $125 per player ($500 per foursome) or $35 for the buffet alone, with sponsorships available and a September 15th deadline to register.

A Moment in Trinity’s History
To celebrate Trinity’s 275th anniversary, we are featuring a historical event each week, curated by Danielle Smith, a Wilson senior and a member of our 275th Anniversary Committee. We will mark many of these events in the week they happened!

Sunday Services Take to the Airwaves (1927)
Trinity’s worship went out over the air for the first time in September 1927, on WRAW and later on WEEU. At first only one service a month was broadcast. Early the following year a member named J. Wilmer Fisher offered to install the necessary equipment at his own expense, and then paid for a second service each month to be broadcast as well. Ninety-nine years on, the offerings that defray Trinity’s television broadcast are the direct descendants of his.

Common Ground Recovery Community
Looking For a Few Volunteers
Every Monday we will open to the community from 1-5 p.m. We are inviting you to help us help others in the midst of recovery. The volunteer needs are set up, assisting with activities such as board games, chess, art projects, etc. If you have a skill like yoga, budgeting, art, Bible conversation leader, or faith conversations, we would love you to help us lead!
