Last Sunday. . .
Pastor Hans took up the verse we all reach for when the chairs outnumber the people — where two or three are gathered — and showed that it was never a verse about attendance at all. Christ fills every square foot of Berks County, he reminded us, but it is here that he attaches his promise to bread and wine you can hold in your own hands. You can listen to the whole sermon here.

This Sunday. . .
We will spend the day with our Common Ground Recovery Community ministry, where God's grace embraces our brokenness. Worship begins at 10:00 a.m., led by Pastor Tom Scornavacchi and Pastor Molly Haggerty in the way Common Ground gathers — seated together around tables rather than in rows, with Pastor Molly preaching.
Naomi Tam joins us on violin. Naomi is a Reading Musical Foundation scholarship recipient who played at Trinity last summer. Trinity members Jacinda Motley, soprano, and Josh Motley, tenor, will sing as well; both are active in Trinity’s music life and in school and community musical organizations.
After worship we will share food and fellowship, talk together about what we have heard, and turn to service projects — making caring cards and tokens for people who need a word of hope and love. Common Ground will make them again on Monday at the Drop-In Center.
Throughout September we are also collecting for Refresh Berks. What is needed most right now is women’s sports bras in small and medium, men’s dark boxer briefs in medium, and dark socks.
Covenant Cup Golf Event
Signup by September 15th
Join us Sunday, September 27th for the second annual Covenant Cup, a friendly golf outing with Christ Episcopal Church at Heidelberg Country Club, benefiting Habitat for Humanity’s mission to build affordable housing in Reading and Berks County.
The 1:00 p.m. shotgun start includes longest drive and closest-to-the-pin contests, capped off by a celebratory banquet buffet at 5:30 p.m. Registration is $125 per player ($500 per foursome) or $35 for the buffet alone, with sponsorships available.
Not a golfer? We still need volunteers to help make this day a success. Sign up to volunteer here — we will provide you with a banquet ticket at no cost to you.
Brian Giebler Voice Recital
Sunday, September 20th
The Fall Festival of the Arts presents tenor Brian Giebler in recital on Sunday, September 20th at 4:00 p.m. at Christ Episcopal Church, 435 Court Street. Described by The New York Times as having a “lovely tone and deep expressivity,” Giebler is one of the most sought-after voices of his generation, and he is joined at the piano by Steven McGhee.
The recital is part of RMF100: Concerts for a Century, marking the 100th anniversary of the Reading Musical Foundation. Tickets are here.
CROP Hunger Walk
Trinity is walking again in the Reading Berks CROP Hunger Walk on Sunday, October 11th at Gring’s Mill, and this year the team goal is $751 — one dollar for every year since the congregation began meeting in 1751. Walk with us, or support the team, here.
Trinity Transporters
“Let all that you do be done in love” — 1 Corinthians 16:14
As we walk with and pray for our members in their lives, we are starting a new ministry providing the gift of transportation. Trinity Transporters is a new subcommittee created under our Trinity Care and Concern Committee. The purpose of this ministry is to provide transportation for those who are in need if they have a doctor appointment, outpatient surgery, or other appointments and they do not have a way to reach their destination or return home.
We are looking for those who might be willing to give an hour or two to transport those in need. If so, please contact Deaconess Deborah, Donna Osborne, Beth Welz — or call the church office at 610-374-4861.
This ministry begins this month, and if you do require assistance, please contact one of the three listed above, and we will get you set up with a driver. Be assured, this will be very confidential.

September 11th (2001)
Twenty-five years ago today, coordinated attacks struck the World Trade Center in New York, the Pentagon, and a field near Shanksville, Pennsylvania. Among the 2,977 people killed were 441 first responders. The years that followed reshaped the nation, and a quarter century on, the day is still close enough that most of us can say where we were when we heard.

Looking For a Few Volunteers
Every Monday we are open to the community from 1-5 p.m. We are inviting you to help us help others in the midst of recovery. Volunteers are needed for setup and to help with activities such as board games, chess, and art projects. If you have a skill like yoga, budgeting, art, Bible conversation leader, or faith conversations, we would love you to help us lead! Click here to sign up.
