Last Sunday. . .

Deaconess Deborah took up Jesus’ answer about Caesar’s coin and turned it into a question for every one of us: whose image do we bear? Each of us carries the image of God, she reminded us, and that belonging holds when life gets hard. You can listen to the whole sermon here.

Come Home to Our Sanctuary This Sunday

This Sunday, October 25th, is a day we have been waiting for. Our sanctuary will be opened once more and set apart for worship in a service of reconsecration, on Reformation Sunday. Please note that we begin outside: gather in the courtyard by 9:45 a.m. as the keys to the church are handed to the Vestry and we process into the sanctuary together. Worship follows in the nave at 10:00 a.m., with jubilant music and a sermon from Pastor Hans. Trinity Choir sings Knut Nystedt’s “Laudate” during the offertory, and Trinity Ringers welcome the congregation back to the sanctuary with Anna Laura Page’s setting of “How Firm a Foundation” for the postlude.

We invite you to wear red as we come home to our sanctuary together. Wear your brightest red, and bring family and friends. Worship is open to all.

The celebration continues after worship. At 11:30 a.m., we will raise a champagne toast to 275 years in the All Saints Room. At noon, those who have reserved a place will join us for the 275th Anniversary Banquet at the WCR Center for the Arts, 140 North Fifth Street. If you need transportation, please call the church office at 610-374-4861.

As Trinity marks 275 years as a congregation, we will remember a variety of saints on All Saints Sunday, November 1st, during worship. A large green book is available for you to write the names of those you remember, both from Trinity’s life and your own. These names will be read aloud during worship.

The book will be in the Narthex when we return to the sanctuary this Sunday, October 25th.

Christ the King Sunday

Plan to spend Sunday, November 22nd, with us. Christ the King Sunday worship begins at 10:00 a.m. with a sermon from Bishop Jennifer Dee of the Northeastern Pennsylvania Synod and a farewell and Godspeed to Deaconess Deborah, who retires on December 1st after 27 years of ministry at Trinity and will be with us for her last Sunday. A farewell luncheon in her honor follows in the All Saints Room, and at 1:00 p.m. organist Nicole Keller joins us in the sanctuary for the next concert in our 275th Anniversary Concert Series. More details to come.

Trinity Transporters

“Let all that you do be done in love” — 1 Corinthians 16:14

As we walk with and pray for our members in their lives, we are starting a new ministry providing the gift of transportation. Trinity Transporters is a new subcommittee created under our Trinity Care and Concern Committee. The purpose of this ministry is to provide transportation for those who are in need if they have a doctor appointment, outpatient surgery, or other appointments and they do not have a way to reach their destination or return home.

We are looking for those who might be willing to give an hour or two to transport those in need. If so, please contact Deaconess Deborah, Donna Osborne, or Beth Welz — or call the church office at 610-374-4861.

This ministry started in September, and if you do require assistance, please contact one of the three listed above, and we will get you set up with a driver. Be assured, this will be very confidential.

Please consider being a part of this much-needed and vital ministry.

Thank you so much,

Trinity’s Care and Concern Committee

A Moment in Trinity’s History

To celebrate Trinity’s 275th anniversary, we are featuring a historical event each week, curated by Danielle Smith, a Wilson senior and a member of our 275th Anniversary Committee. We will mark many of these events in the week they happened!

The California Gold Rush (1849)

Gold is found in California, leading to the California Gold Rush. Gold was originally found a year earlier, in 1848, but it was 1849 that saw the large influx of prospectors. An estimated $81 million in gold was produced at its peak in 1852. California became the 31st state in 1850 due to its growing population, in part due to the Gold Rush. However, by 1857, gold production began to significantly decrease.
