Last Sunday. . .

On All Saints Sunday, Pastor Hans preached “Like Him,” with a surprising definition of a saint: not someone especially good, but someone God has finished. You can listen to the whole sermon here.

This Sunday. . .

Deaconess Deborah will be preaching on Jesus’ parable about the 10 bridesmaids: “What’s in your lamp?” Dr. Wentz opens worship with J.S. Bach’s Prelude in C minor on the organ, and Trinity Choir sings Maurice Bevan’s “There’s a Wideness in God’s Mercy” at the Offertory. Worship is at 10:00 a.m.

Save the Date: November 22nd
Christ the King Sunday

Plan to spend Sunday, November 22nd, with us. Christ the King Sunday worship begins at 10:00 a.m. with a sermon from Bishop Jennifer Dee of the Northeastern Pennsylvania Synod and a farewell and Godspeed to Deaconess Deborah, who retires on December 1st after 27 years of ministry at Trinity and will be with us for her last Sunday. A farewell luncheon in her honor follows in the All Saints Room, and at 1:00 p.m. organist Nicole Keller joins us in the sanctuary for the next concert in our 275th Anniversary Concert Series. More details to come.

Trinity Together
Sunday, November 15th, After Worship

The Vestry invites you to Trinity Together, a new monthly gathering for listening and conversation about Trinity’s future. Join us for coffee and conversation in the All Saints Room following worship on Sunday, November 15th. It is a chance to share your hopes, ask questions, and hear about the strategic plan the Vestry is advancing. Trinity Together will meet on the third Sunday of each month, before the monthly Vestry meeting.

Trinity Transporters

“Let all that you do be done in love” — 1 Corinthians 16:14

As we walk with and pray for our members in their lives, we are starting a new ministry providing the gift of transportation. Trinity Transporters is a new subcommittee created under our Trinity Care and Concern Committee. The purpose of this ministry is to provide transportation for those who are in need if they have a doctor appointment, outpatient surgery, or other appointments and they do not have a way to reach their destination or return home.

We are looking for those who might be willing to give an hour or two to transport those in need. If so, please contact Deaconess Deborah, Donna Osborne, or Beth Welz — or call the church office at 610-374-4861.

This ministry started in September, and if you do require assistance, please contact one of the three listed above, and we will get you set up with a driver. Be assured, this will be very confidential.

Please consider being a part of this much-needed and vital ministry.

Thank you so much,

Trinity’s Care and Concern Committee

A Moment in Trinity’s History

To celebrate Trinity’s 275th anniversary, we are featuring a historical event each week, curated by Danielle Smith, a Wilson senior and a member of our 275th Anniversary Committee. We will mark many of these events in the week they happened!

Handwritten page of Trinity’s Vestry minutes from November 2, 1850, listing five numbered resolutions in English, beginning with the resolution to alter the church in modern style

The Vestry voted to begin the work on November 2, 1850, resolving “that the interest of the Congregation will be advanced by altering the Church in modern style.”

Trinity Celebrates 100 Years (1851)

Trinity celebrates its 100th anniversary. Over the duration of the year, Trinity made some improvements throughout the church building, altering it to have a more modern style. The roof of the building was raised, a second floor was added to accommodate the new sanctuary, and all interior parts of the sanctuary were rebuilt. The pulpit was moved to the east side of the church, and a raised chancel with a solid rail was added.
