Trinity Tidings | April 2nd Edition
Sunday Worship
Last Sunday. . .
we heard the premiere of Meditations on St. Matthew’s Passion, a four-movement choral work composed by Dr. Wentz and performed by the Trinity Choir at the Palm Sunday service.
The work presents the Passion story through an interweaving of Scripture and music. As the second half of the appointed Passion reading — the arrest, trial, crucifixion, and burial of Jesus from Matthew 27 — is proclaimed in word, the choral movements reflect on key moments from the first half of the reading in Matthew 26, the hours immediately before the betrayal.
This Sunday. . .
the earth shook. An angel spoke. And two women fell at a pair of wounded feet. Pastor Hans will preach about how Easter is not a feeling — it’s a cataclysm.
Special Congregational Meeting
Thursday, April 2nd
The Church Vestry has called a Special Congregational Meeting for Maundy Thursday, April 2, beginning with a fellowship dinner at 5:30 PM in the All Saints Room, at which the Vestry and project team will present their findings on the Sanctuary Restoration Project and welcome your questions before the formal meeting convenes at 6:30 PM.
Maundy Thursday Worship
Thursday, April 2nd at 7:30 PM
We mark a high-point of Jesus’ earthly ministry with his institution the Eucharist, washing of his disciples’ feet, and his command to love one another. Dcs. Deborah will preach at this choral Eucharist, and we will conclude with the stripping of the altar. Music provided by the Trinity Choir.
This service will stream live on YouTube, Facebook, and Comcast Chanel 190.
Good Friday Worship
Friday, April 3rd at 12:05 PM
We gather at 12 noon, the time when Jesus was crucified, for a service centered on the combination of bitterness and glory that emanates from Jesus’ trial and crucifixion.
This service will last around one hour and will include the solemn reproaches, the bidding prayer, the reading of St. Luke’s passion, and a sermon from Pastor Hans.
This service will stream live on YouTube and Facebook.
Intergenerational Easter Egg Hunt
After Easter Worship
Just as the joy of the resurrection was a surprise to the women at the tomb, the Trinity Easter Egg Hunt will surprise people of all ages.
In the past, our hunt was for young children; older youth hid eggs full of candy and small gifts. This year, the eggs will also contain surprises for older youth and adults. We will gather in the Hintz Room after worship to begin the hunt together. (Please wait for Deaconess Deborah to join you.)
