Ceiling Project Update

The evaluation of the ceiling above the worship space & the work that was approved at the recent congregational meeting is kicking off October 6th & will last for the entire month of October.  It will result in a comprehensive work order for ceiling restoration, stained glass window restoration, and restoration of Washington Street brick & cornice work that Trinity can prioritize over the next few years.

Monday October 6th 8am will be the official kickoff date.  On that day, crews from Canning Restoration and Kautter & Kelly architectural associates will begin work.  The project will last approximately 3 weeks.  Here are some other details:

They will use 1-4 staff parking spaces in the main lot each day.  Most days it will be 1 space, but on occasion it will be more.

A dumpster will be placed next to the Bard House, where we have placed dumpsters over the past year.

Each week, Canning's crew will place plastic over the balconies and main worship space.  Each Friday these plastic covers will be removed.  Is there a chance we need to do some cleaning on Saturdays?  Yes, but we won't know that until the project starts.

Tentatively, on October 16 and/or October 17, architecture crews will use a high lift to inspect the roofline on Washington Street, resulting in closure of the sidewalk & partial closure of Washington Street.

Please remember, after this work is complete, the ceiling will still be cracked, and the stained-glass windows will still have holes.  The goal is to provide us with clear action items to repair the church without causing future structural problems.  While the Canning Company is very professional and has a lot of experience renovating worship spaces, be prepared for the campus to have a construction feel. A dumpster will be present, equipment will be visible, and the campus may not be as clean.  Adjustments to scheduling & the use of space may be required on the part of all who use Trinity's campus. Thanks for your grace & patience in advance!
